PRESS RELEASE
Indianapolis, Ind., April 14, 2009 — When the mother of Riley Hanagan, 11, learned that her daughter could win a dude ranch family vacation by drawing art for an online, storybook Bible, she thought, “This is too good to be true.” Her daughter is an avid horseback rider, loves the outdoors and studies the Bible daily.
Today, “too good to be true” became a reality. In a surprise phone call from Saratoga, Wyoming, Medicine Bow Lodge owner Debbie Bishop told Hanagan she will ride horses with her family in the Wyoming Rocky Mountains. For as long as her mother can remember, Hanagan has wanted to see the Rocky Mountains. Now, she will ride in those mountains for a week. One of the longer rides ascends to a pristine lake at heights of more than 10,000 feet.
When Hanagan received the surprise phone call from Bishop, she screamed, squeaked, giggled, jumped up and down and said, “thank you” and “I can’t wait.” That phone call along with her winning art can be heard and viewed at www.KidsTalkAboutGod.org/riley.
Children’s International Arts Festival organizer and syndicated columnist Carey Kinsolving selected Hanagan’s winning art to publish in the online, storybook Bible he plans to write and publish on his website, www.KidsTalkAboutGod.org. “Riley’s artwork of Jesus calling his disciples is one of the best pieces I’ve seen from a child artist,” said Kinsolving. “I can’t wait to publish it in the ‘Kids Color Me Bible Gospel of John.’”
Kinsolving says the good news for all Indy children is that they can write and draw to win dude ranch family vacations for the summer of 2010. The online festival is ongoing until further notice. Kinsolving says he plans to start announcing 2010 winners this fall. He is in the process of signing new agreements with dude ranch owners. There is no entry fee, and all the festival information is available at www.KidsTalkAboutGod.org.
The Children’s International Arts Festival is sponsored by KidsTalkAboutGod.org and participating dude ranches. Festival organizer Carey Kinsolving writes a weekly Kids Talk About God column, distributed through Creators Syndicate, and has produced a series of popular TV spots for an ABC affiliate that can be seen on the Kids Talk About God website.
