44 Then Jesus said loudly, “Everyone who believes in me is really believing in the one who sent me. 45 Everyone who sees me is really seeing the one who sent me. 46 I came into this world as a light. I came so that everyone who believes in me will not stay in darkness.
47 “I did not come into the world to judge people. I came to save the people in the world. So I am not the one who judges those who hear my teaching and do not obey. 48 But there is a judge for all those who refuse to believe in me and do not accept what I say. The message I have spoken will judge them on the last day. 49 That is because what I taught was not from myself. The Father who sent me told me what to say and what to teach. 50 And I know that whatever he says to do will bring eternal life. So the things I say are exactly what the Father told me to say.”
“In the Bible it says ‘whoever believes in me, does not believe in only me, but the one who sent me.’ The moral is: people depend so much on God, they forget Jesus, who died on the cross.” Elijah, 10
“The words of the Father came through Jesus. His words said that whoever believes in the Son will have eternal life. Jesus came into the world as light. We were filled with darkness, which means we were filled with sin, so Jesus will light us with his word. If someone rejects his word, then he is rejecting the Father, and there isn’t any other way to be saved than through his word.” Daniela, 10
“Jesus said that he is Jesus and God. Whoever believes in him believes in both. If you look at Jesus, you are also looking at God. Jesus is the light! If you do not believe, you will go to hell. If you believe in him, you’ll be saved and you will go to heaven.” Braden, 11
“If you believe Jesus, why don’t you believe God? If you reject both Jesus and God, when the rapture comes you will go to a place of complete death and torment, which is called Hell. But if you accept God and Jesus, you will go to a place of complete love and happiness, which is called Heaven, where God and Jesus live. You will be happy forever.” Elijah, 11
“If you do not keep Jesus’ words, he will not judge you, but his words will condemn you if you reject him. The judge, who will decide where you go, is God the Father.” Nicolas, 12
44 Then Jesus said loudly, “Everyone who believes in me is really believing in the one who sent me. 45 Everyone who sees me is really seeing the one who sent me. 46 I came into this world as a light. I came so that everyone who believes in me will not stay in darkness.
In I Timothy 3:16, the Bible says, “Christ was shown to us in human form.” Also, we know that “God is spirit. So the people who worship him must worship in spirit and truth,” (John 4:24).
Because God is spirit, you can’t see him. However, you can see ways in which he has shown himself. When you look at a painting, you don’t see the artist. However, you can learn something about the artist by studying his or her paintings.
Jesus is the perfect picture of God the Father. If you believe in Jesus, you believe in God the Father. They are separate persons, but they share the same essence. When Jesus speaks, he only speaks what his Father wants him to speak.
Unlike most of the religious leaders in Jerusalem, Jesus did not seek his own glory. He only wanted to glorify or show the greatness of God the Father.
Most people in this world are living in spiritual darkness, but they do not know it. Jesus came to shine the light of his life into this world of darkness, sin and death. Several times during his ministry, God was so pleased with Jesus that he spoke from heaven to say he was pleased (Luke 3:22).
The best way to please God is to trust the Lord Jesus as your savior. This is the only way anyone can be rescued from spiritual darkness. Jesus knows how to please his Father. Once you trust Jesus as your savior, he will show you how to please him and his Father. When you listen to Jesus, other people will see the light of his life in you, especially when you tell them about Jesus.
Jesus is the living Word of God. We are blessed to have his words in the Bible, which is God’s written Word. If you want to know God’s will for your life, study the Bible. Jesus spoke this world and universe into being (John 1:1-5).
Jesus wants to speak words of life into your mind and life so that the darkness and lies of this world will not control you. As the spiritual life of this world, Jesus wants you to live free. You can’t be free if you believe and live by lies.
Jesus wants you to know that he loves you. Nothing you will ever do or say can stop Jesus from loving you. When you sin, he doesn’t like what you think or do, but he always loves you. Always remember that he died for your sins and rose again to conquer death. Your value always comes from God’s love for you.
If you look for love and acceptance in this world, you will be a slave of the darkness. You will have to perform to be accepted by people. When you stop doing things that please people in this world, the love and acceptance will stop. God loves you even when you fail. God’s love depends on himself, not you!
This kind of one-way love frees you to live for God. You’re not trying to please God to be accepted. If you have trusted Jesus as your savior, you are already accepted and loved by God. Now that you have all the love you need in Christ, you’re free to give to others.
47 “I did not come into the world to judge people. I came to save the people in the world. So I am not the one who judges those who hear my teaching and do not obey. 48 But there is a judge for all those who refuse to believe in me and do not accept what I say. The message I have spoken will judge them on the last day.
When Jesus was born in Bethlehem, he came into this world on a mission of mercy. He came to offer himself as the final sacrifice for our sins. On the cross, Jesus said, “It is finished,” (John 19:30).
Jesus finished paying for our sins. He took the judgment for our sins. Because he took our judgment, we can escape God’s judgment by trusting in Jesus as our savior. He saves us from this judgment. That’s why he is called “savior.”
People who refuse Jesus’ gracious offer of eternal life will be judged by his words. Jesus said, “People who believe in God’s Son are not judged guilty. But people who do not believe are already judged, because they have not believed in God’s only Son,” (John 3:18).
49 That is because what I taught was not from myself. The Father who sent me told me what to say and what to teach. 50 And I know that whatever he says to do will bring eternal life. So the things I say are exactly what the Father told me to say.”
Jesus came to this world because his Father sent him (John 8:42). When Jesus spoke, he said what the Father wanted him to say (John 14:10). When Jesus struggled on the night before his crucifixion, he prayed with great passion. He wondered if there was another way to pay for our sins other than dying on the cross. In the end, he prayed, “But do what you want, not what I want,” (Luke 22:42).
Yes, whatever God says to do will bring eternal life. Some people once asked Jesus, “What does God want us to do?” Jesus answered, “The work God wants you to do is this: to believe in the one he sent,” (John 6:28-29).
Jesus did the work on the cross so that you can believe in him and live forever in his kingdom. How could anyone refuse this gift of forever life that Jesus offers? The sorrow, pain, and suffering of this world and even death itself will be left behind. Joy, peace and happiness beyond imagination waits for all who trust the Lord Jesus as savior. His righteous, forever kingdom will change our planet into a paradise beyond anything that even Disney can imagine!
